Transition Points

Transition points. They often arrive on our doorstep without warning. We frequently discover ourselves lingering in a state of in-between, out of fear and uncertainty. Either way, the moment will come when we must make the decision to transition to a new way of life, of being. So here we are blogging about transitions.

The definition of transition can be interpreted as the process or period of changing from one state or condition to another. We make tens, if not hundreds, of transitions a day. A half day of work transitions to a full day of work. Picking up the children after school transitions to having your wife/husband pick the kids up. You’ve planned an intense workout at the gym but upon arrival it transitions into light stretching and cardio. These are just a few examples and we scarcely give them though or notice.

The transition points being discussed here are those that bring life changes. Examples might be the decision to join a different church/religious practice, to ask for a divorce, to go from single to married, to change careers, or deciding that to get back in shape after years of neglecting your health. Any one of these examples, and numerous others, brings about deep and profound life changes. Transition points can bring up feelings of insecurity, fear, anxiety, worry, and self-doubt; but they don’t have to. These periods in our life can bring about the amazing, the magical. The choice is yours.

One of the largest obstacles in moving trough these transitions is the unrealistic time frame they are going to happen in. Transitions can absolutely happen overnight. You can choose to leave a toxic work environment at any point. Most transitions, however, happen over a period of time. It’s important to remember that and be kind to yourself in the process. You’re learning to ride a bike all over again.

A foundational piece to moving through transitions is you! Sounds easy but we are often responding to, or acting on, what family, friends, the media, and others are telling us. All of this outside information can be of value at times. Most of the time it only brings clutter and confusion. So how do you move through these periods? By being true to yourself.

Authenticity is a foundational piece. When we are secure in ourselves and authentic the doubts, worry, and fear fall away naturally. While we are open to hear other thoughts or ideas, it is our own intuition and knowing that guides us. There is knowledge, strength, and courage in abundance. It has always been right there within you.

Believe in you! Make the decisions and take the actions that are needed. Move from a space of grace and integrity into your future. The past is gone and you know where you currently are in this amazing life. The arrival of transition points is an opportunity for you to move into the future. Transition points herald stepping into a new stage of life, leaving the old behind.

This is where you discover new opportunities, growth, and inspiration. Don’t be afraid of the unknown. The unknown represents unlimited possibility. Jump in. Life is calling.
